-
DescriptionIncreased levels of erucic acid (22:1n9) have been found in the red blood cell membranes of autistic subjects with developmental regression (PMID: 16581239 ). Erucic acid is broken down long-chain acyl-coenzyme A (CoA) dehydrogenase which is produced in the liver. This enzyme breaks this long chain fatty acid into shorter-chain fatty acids. human infants have relatively low amounts of this enzyme and because of this babies should not be given foods high in erucic acid. Erucic acid is found to be associated with isovaleric acidemia which is an inborn error of metabolism.

In VivoErucic acid (oral administration; 3 mg/kg) enhances the phosphorylation level of PI3K, PKCζ, ERK, CREB and Akt in the hippocampus compared with that in the vehicle-treated control group. Animal Model:Normal na?ve mice Dosage:3 mg/kg Administration:Oral administration; 3 mg/kg Result:Enhanced the phosphorylation level of PI3K, PKCζ, ERK, CREB and Akt in the hippocampus.

Itaconic acid
Itaconic acid also known as itaconate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as branched fatty acids. These are fatty acids containing a branched chain. Itaconic acid exists as a solid soluble (in water) and a weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Itaconic acid has been detected in multiple biofluids such as sweat and urine.
-
Biocytin
Biocytin is a classical neuroanatomical tracer commonly used to map brain connectivity. Biocytin is a conjugate of D-biotin and L-lysine, where the carboxylate of D-biotin is coupled with the ?-amine of L-lysine via a secondary amide bond.
-
Quinaldic acid
Quinaldic acid also known as quinaldate or chinaldinsaeure belongs to the class of organic compounds known as quinoline carboxylic acids.
